Terry Riley - In C (but not too long)
“In C, but not that long”
Terry Riley has composed “In C” in 1964. He devised 53 little musical snippets and let performers to choose what to play, when to play and how long to play. The result was a transformative music, gains a different shape in each performance. His design was one of the pioneers of algorithmic music.
What I do here is to add extra elements into the music. Since the ensemble is in a digital realm, pitch content also can be controlled via Tritonet.
Here there is an improvisation based on predefined harmonic structures, some of them are familiar and tonal, the others are more complex and reveal a new sensation of harmony.
